Guidelines for Submitting Scientific Papers for TNOA Medal Sessions

  1. TNOA Prof. M. Natarajan Medal for trauma
    • Papers with good materials and with minimum of two years follow up shall be considered for inclusion.
    • Single case reports and papers with short follow up will not be considered for the medal.
    • The presenting author should not have completed 35 years on the last day of submission of full paper.
  2. TNOA Prof. C. Vyageswarudu Medal for Orthopaedics
    • Papers with good materials and with minimum of two years follow up shall be considered for inclusion.
    • Single case reports and papers with short follow up will not be considered for the medal.
    • The presenting author should not have completed 35 years on the last day of submission of full paper.
  3. TNOA Prof. T.K.Shanmugasundaram Medal for Rural Centers
    • Only papers from rural centers without any teaching facility shall be considered.
    • (Rural Centers is classified as one which does not fall within the area of a corporation or in the area of a medical college)
    • There is no age limit.
  4. TNOA Prof. A. Subramaniam Medal for Basic Research in Orthopaedics
    • Papers must involve studies in cadaveric, Bio Mechanical, Microbiological, design fabrication of instruments and implants etc.
    • There is no age limit.
    • The time of the presentation shall be 10 minutes and 2 minutes shall be allotted for discussion
  5. TNOA Prof. P. Dhanarajan Medal for Innovation in trauma
    • Papers must be on innovative work on trauma.
    • The Author himself must present the paper.
    • There is no age limit.
  6. TNOA Prof. M. Ramanathan Medal for Consultants
    • There is no age limit.
    • Contestant should have had a minimum experience of five years in the Practice of orthopedics after qualifying in orthopedics.
    • The presentation should be an original work by the author himself in any subspecialty.
    • The presentation should be made by the author himself.
    • A minimum of 2 years follow up is essential before presentation of the scientific work.
    • This criterion may not be applicable in certain studies which may not require a follow up
    • This is to be decided by the scientific committee of TNOA.
  7. TNOA Prof. T.S. Xavier Medal for Hand Surgery
    • This medal is to recognize scientific work in the field of Hand Surgery.
    • A minimum of 2 years follow up is essential. This criterion may not be applicable in certain studies which do not require a long follow up. This will be decided by the scientific committee of TNOA.
    • There is no age limit.
  8. TNOA Prof. S Rajasekaran Medal for Spine Surgery
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in spine speciality.
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the spine speciality.
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.
  9. TNOA Prof. K Sriram Medal for Pediatric Orthopedics
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in peadiatric Orthopedics.
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the peadiatric Orthopedics speciality.
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.
  10. TNOA Dr. David V Rajan Medal for Arthroscopy
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in Arthroscopy
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the Arthroscopy.
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.
  11. TNOA 2020 Sub speciality Medal for Oncology
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in Oncology
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the Oncology.
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.
  12. TNOA 2020 Sub speciality Medal for Arthroplasty
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in Arthroplasty.
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the Arthroplasty
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.
  13. TNOA 2020 Sub speciality Medal for Foot & Ankle
    • Papers must be clinical / research subject in Foot & Ankle.
    • Presenter must be consultant specialised in the Foot & Ankle
    • 2 years follow up is essential.
    • There is no age limit.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. The presenting author should be a member of TNOA and should have registered for the Conference and mention of Life membership / Associate Membership is mandatory.
  2. Decision on inclusion of paper for medals is at the discretion of the Scientific Committee of TNOA.
  3. Abstract shall not contain more than 250 words and shall reach the Scientific Committee before 15th December 2019 and the full paper on or before 15th December 2019.
  4. The paper must highlight the following: Introduction and purpose; Materials and methods; Results and discussion.
  5. Papers will be considered only on submission of full text.
  6. If the paper is for a medal session, the name of medal for which presented should be indicated by the presenter. If not selected, kindly indicate if paper can be selected under any other category, if applicable.
  7. Kindly indicate if you would permit the paper to be presented as free paper /poster presentation in case it is not selected for medal.
  8. A delegate can present only one paper. Poster presentation can be additional.
  9. All Scientific Abstracts and Full papers should be submitted only online by logging on to www.tnoacon2020.com
  10. The papers meant for medal should be submitted in the form of scientific papers for publications and should contain the following:
    Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Discussion, References.
  11. The presenters for medal papers should give consent for publication in the TNOA journal, if the editorial board of the journal chooses the paper for publication.
  12. The time for presentation of free papers shall be 6 minutes and 7+2 minutes for medal papers except for TNOA Prof. A. Subramaniam Medal Session where the time allotted would be 10+2 minutes.
  13. Material for Projection shall be handed over at the Preview room 2 hours before the respective session.
  14. Only LCD projection is available. Presentation shall be in power point format.
  15. Speakers are requested to provide scientific material only in Pen Drives. Personal Laptops will not be permitted.
  16. TNOA shall have the rights to preserve the original articles submitted for scientific presentations, edit if needed and publish them in the journal of TNOA.

E-Poster Guidelines

  1. 6 MB is the maximum size that can be uploaded.
  2. The presentations can be uploaded in 16:9 ppt and pptx formats only, all text should be fonts Arial or Calibri and no smaller than size 14.
  3. Images, tables and detailed data may be used.
  4. No videos or multimedia may be used.
  5. E-Poster presentations may include a maximum of 6 slides (landscape orientation) with a summary of the following information:
    • Abstract number, title, list of authors and authors' affiliations (compulsory).
    • Introduction to problem.
    • Materials and methods (incl. statistical analysis, if any)
    • Results
    • Discussion (incl. current literature review)
    • Conclusions / Conflict of interest declaration
